About Dad on Third

Thank you for visiting Dad on Third.  No, seriously, thank you.  It means the world to me that you’ve taken time out of your busy life to visit my very small corner of the world.  If you’ve gotten this far, that hopefully means that you’ve liked something I’ve written or you’re a family member, or both. Either way, welcome.

You can read more about me at the “Middle Reliever” tab, but I wanted to take a few minute to tell you why I started Dad on Third.  Well, first you should know that Dad on Third was originally Man on Third. We’re the same guy, writing about mostly the same stuff, but for a number of reasons, least of which as a stay-at-home dad now (that wasn’t always the case), I see myself as a dad first and a man second. Also, I think having you, my readers, know that my stories are going to be about my life as a dad and parenting is just a little bit more focused and may allow for other readers — not related to me — enjoy my blog.

Second, I love to write.  After nearly 20 years in PR that included a lot of writing for other people, I wanted to write as myself and find my own voice.

Dad on Third has a simple goal: to highlight the great stories that taken together make us who we are.  I try to write about topics, that while are my experience, you may relate to and connect with.  And best of all, you don’t need to be a dad to enjoy my stories.

If I’ve made you think, feel, laugh or even cry, then I’ve done my job.  I’m not doing this for money (I’m too lazy for that) or building a big audience (though that’s fine too re: audience), I just want to express how I feel in a way that may resonate with you. And maybe, my boys will actually appreciate it when they’re older.  Though I always picture myself frantically hitting delete on this site the first time they find out about it.  So, if the site one day just vanishes you know what happened.

All opinions expressed are mine, influenced by my wife who is also my editor.

Feel free to like, comment, share or give me any feedback you have.  I welcome it.  And of course, I would love it if you followed my blog in any one of the various formats available so you don’t miss out on the magic.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks again for taking the time to read about my life.  I’ll try not to bore the crap out of you.

Neil
